What is Sanchar Saathi Portal ?
Sanchar Saathi portal to be launched to block and track stolen or lost mobiles. Government of India is going to start Mobile Blocking and Tracking System on 17th May on the occasion of World Telecom Day.
According to the news agency, Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will officially launch the Sanchar Saathi Portal (CEIR).
CEIR Pilot Project –

Till now this system is being run as a pilot project by the Center for Department of Telematics (C-DOT) in some telecom offices of Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka and North East region. Which is ready to be out all over India from 17th May.
According to media reports, so far 4.70 lakh lost or stolen mobiles have been blocked with the help of this portal. Along with this, more than 2.40 lakh mobile tracks have been done.
Recently, with the help of the portal, Karnataka Police has recovered more than 2500 lost mobiles and handed them over to their owners.
Mobile will be tracked even after changing IMEI number –
Most of the criminals used to change the IMEI number of that device after stealing the mobile. Due to which mobiles could not be tracked or blocked.
C-DOT Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Rajkumar Upadhyay told the news agency that this portal will be able to track and block the device even after changing the IEMI number.
How to find lost mobile with the help of CEIR portal –
With the help of Sanchar Saathi portal, the lost or stolen mobile has to be found by following the following steps.
Step – 1
First of all we have to go to the official website of CEIR https://ceir.gov.in.
Step – 2
After that click on Block Stolen/Lost Mobile option.
Step – 3
After clicking, now the information sought in the website like device information, lost information, mobile owner personal information etc has to be filled.
Step – 4
Let us now know where and what information has to be filled –
Device Information –
- Mobile Number
- IEMI Number
- Device Brand
- Mobile Purchase Invoice
Lost Information –
- Mobile Lost / Stolen Place Name
- Mobile Lost / Stolen Date
- State, District, Police Station
- Police complaint number
- Police complaint Copy
Mobile Owner Personal Information –
- Owner Name
- Owner’s address
- ID proof copy
- E-mail ID
- Mobile Number
Step -5
After filling all the information, check the self-declaration checkbox and click on the submit button.
Step – 6
An ID of your application/request will appear for submission, which has to be saved somewhere.
Later with the help of this ID number, we will be able to check the status of our request.
