ICC T20 World Cup 2024 | Venues | Date and Teams Information | America to host ICC tournament for the first time in the history of cricket

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be played from June 4 to 30 in America and West Indies. 55 matches of T20 World will be played in 10 cities of USA and West Indies in 27 days.

For the first time in 147 years of cricket history, America has got to host any global event of ICC.

International Cricket Council has inspected 4 shortlisted cities of America, out of which 3 cities have not got international status. All the venues will be finalized in the next few months.

20 teams will participate in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 –

Twenty teams will participate in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Only the top-8 ranked teams in the last T20 World Cup, including the host team America and the West Indies, have qualified.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh have qualified on the basis of T20 rankings. In the same week, Ireland, Scotland and Papua New Guinea made it to the tournament through regional qualifiers.

Ireland and Scotland topped the Europe region qualifiers, while Papua New Guinea topped the Asia-Pacific qualifiers.

5 more teams will qualify in this tournament. Among these, one team will come from American qualifier, 2 from Africa and 2 from Asia region.

Qualified Teams for T20 World Cup 2024 –

• Home Teams – America and West Indies
• Teams from 2022 World Cup Points Table – Australia, India, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa, England, Netherlands, Pakistan.
• Teams from Top 10 Ranking – Bangladesh and Afghanistan
• Teams from qualifier stage – Ireland, Scotland and Papua New Guinea.
• 5 places vacant – 1 team American qualifier, 2 from Africa and 2 from Asia region.

4 groups of 5-5 teams will be formed –

ICC T20 World Cup 2024, 20 teams will be divided into 4 groups of 5 teams each. 40 matches will be played in the group stage. Top 2-2 teams from all the four groups will advance to the Super-8 stage, in which 12 matches will be played.

Top 2-2 teams of Super 8 will also qualify in the semi-finals. The final match of this tournament will be played on 30 June 2024 between the semi-final winning teams.

The main reasons for holding the T20 World Cup in America –

• Cricket is spreading rapidly in North America. ICC has taken this decision to make a strong hold here.
• ICC wants to include cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. If the World Cup is held in America, then the hopes of including cricket in the Olympics will also increase. ICC has also shown the official presentation to the Olympic Committee. On which the Olympic Committee will give its decision by the end of this year.
